عندما تنيح الأخ “عبد الملك” الخادِم المُكرَّس أمين مكتبة مدارس الأحد بالجيزة سنة 1950، اختير “الأخ سليمان” ليحل محله، فاستقال من وظيفته ليكون شابًا مكرسًا أمينًا لمكتبة مدارس الأحد بالجيزة
كان يتولى توزيع “رسالة ميناء الخلاص” الصادرة عن كنيسة مارمينا بمصر القديمة، تحت إشراف تحرير القمص مكاري السرياني
اختاره قداسة البابا كيرلس السادس ليكون شمَّاسًا وتلميذًا خاصًا له في مايو 1959
بعد رهبنته باسم الراهب مينا آفا مينا، سُمّي كاهنًا في 13 يونيو 1965، ثم قمصًا في 8 أغسطس 1969
عينه قداسة البابا كيرلس السادس وكيلاً لبطريركية الإسكندرية من أغسطس 1970 حتى سبتمبر 1972
وفي سنة 1972، عندما خلا كرسي دمياط، عرض عليه أن يُسَام أسقفًا، لكنه اعتذر وفضل الرجوع إلى الدير، فسُمِح له بما يريد
ثم عينه البابا كيرلس السادس بعد ذلك رئيسًا لدير مارمينا بمريوط (قبل الأسقفية)
تميزت رئاسته للدير بأمرين: حركة التعمير الواسعة، والأبوة الروحية
كان يصر على أن مدة اختبار الرهبنة لا تقل عن ثلاث سنوات تقريبًا
قام قداسة البابا شنوده الثالث بإلباس الإسكيم لثلاثة من رؤساء الأديرة (نيافة الأنبا صرابامون، نيافة الأنبا متاؤس، نيافة الأنبا مينا) مساء الأربعاء 31 يناير 1996، وهم الرؤساء الذين أمضوا أكثر من ثلاثين سنة في الرهبنة، ويستطيعون ممارسة طقس الإسكيم في الدير

Birth Date: 23 January 1923
Education: Diploma in Commerce, 1946
Service: Served in churches of Giza and Tanta; then appointed librarian and Sunday School secretary in Giza.
When the late “Abdel Malek,” the dedicated Sunday School librarian in Giza, reposed in 1950, Brother Suleiman was chosen to succeed him, resigning from his job to serve as the librarian.
He distributed the “Message of the Port of Salvation” issued by Saint Mina Church in Old Cairo, while the editing was supervised by Father Makary the Syrian.
Chosen by His Holiness Pope Cyril VI to be a deacon and personal disciple in May 1959.
After his monastic profession as Monk Mina Ava Mina, he was ordained priest on 13 June 1965 and then became a hegumen (archpriest) on 8 August 1969.
Appointed by Pope Cyril VI as Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria from August 1970 to September 1972.
In 1972, when the See of Damietta became vacant, he was offered episcopal ordination but declined, preferring to return to the monastery, and his wish was granted.
Later, Pope Cyril VI appointed him Abbot of Saint Mina Monastery, Mariout (prior to episcopacy).
His abbacy was marked by two main achievements: extensive reconstruction and spiritual fatherhood.
He insisted that the period of monastic probation should last at least three years.
His Holiness Pope Shenouda III clothed three abbots (His Grace Bishops Serapamon, Matthew, and Mina) with the eskem on Wednesday evening, 31 January 1996; these abbots had more than thirty years in monastic life and were allowed to perform the eskem rite in the monastery.
He reposed after a long struggle with illness.
