Archangel Suriel’s Glorification | تمجيد الملاك سوريال

Introduction:
The names of the remaining four Archangels are not mentioned in the Holy Bible, but they are recorded in the Church’s liturgical and historical writings—such as the Annual Psalmody (Psali & Theotokia book) and other Church history sources. These names are derived from Sacred Tradition, which has preserved their remembrance throughout the centuries. They are:

Suriel – English: Suriel or Sariel | Aramaic: זהריאל | Greek: Ἀτριήλ | Coptic: Courihl

Zadakiel – English: Zadkiel or Hesediel | Hebrew: צדקיאל | Coptic: Cedakihl

Sarathiel – English: Sarathiel | Coptic: Caraqihl

Ananiel – English: Haniel, Uriel, or Anael | Hebrew: הניאל / חַנִּיאֵל | Coptic: Ananihl

The Church’s Veneration of Them:
The Church honors these holy Archangels in her hymns and praises offered to God. In the Synaxis of Saints (known as “El-Mogma’” in the Divine Liturgy, which commemorates the Virgin Mary, the angels, apostles, martyrs, and saints), the chanters proclaim:

“Intercede for us, O pure Archangels Michael and Gabriel, that the Lord may forgive us our sins.
Intercede for us, O pure Archangels Raphael and Suriel, that the Lord may forgive us our sins.
Intercede for us, O holy Archangels Zadakiel, Sarathiel, and Ananiel, that the Lord may forgive us our sins.”
